Misha

Beautiful Misha is a gorgeous 6-year-old German Shepherd who is desperately seeking a lifeline, a forever home that will love her unconditionally.

Misha has found herself in the shelter due to no fault of her own, she has been waiting for months for someone to take her home, wondering where her family have gone, she is no longer coping living in the kennel environment and her welfare is now being compromised. Misha isn’t enjoying life much at all and needs out of the shelter ASAP.

Misha is so stressed in the shelter, the constant barking dogs have her on edge, she needs a quiet environment where she can relax and decompress. When Misha has had a chance to be calm and feel safe, she shows her true self which is a snuggly, cuddly bear that just wants to be loved, she will lean into your legs for pats, resting her head on your lap, she is very affectionate. Misha is looking for someone patient and understanding that will give her time to come out of her shell at her own pace.

Misha is looking for a quiet home where the routine is predictable, she would become overwhelmed in a busy household and would much prefer a slower paced life with her humans. Misha would not cope in a built up, busy environment, ideally, she will go for walks in a quiet area so that she can enjoy herself without the stress of what may appear around the corner.

Misha would prefer to live in a home with children over the age of 10 years old, she has always been an inside dog and would love her to be included as part of her family inside with a big snuggly bed that she can lounge the day away on.

Misha hasn’t received much in the way of training, or if she has, she is too stressed to show off her skills in the shelter. Misha is very strong on lead and will sniff everything she can, she is looking for a confident handler that can help Misha remember her manners and basic obedience, she LOVES toys, especially soft ones and enjoys a treat too.

Misha is reactive to dogs in the shelter, whilst her critical distance is lessening and she is able to be moved on easily, she doesn’t want to be anywhere near other dogs at this stage and would much prefer a life where she avoids other animals and can happily do her own thing at her own pace. Once Misha leaves the shelter, this may be different, the loud, stressful environment certainly doesn’t help this poor girl, but for now, she needs to be the only dog in her new home. Misha hasn’t been tested with cats or other small pets.

You may notice that Misha’s ear is a little floppy, she had developed ‘cauliflower ear’ where the ear tissue becomes inflamed and thickened from ongoing infections. This went untreated in Misha for a long time, and now she has a permanent small floppy ear. Misha can be prone to ear infections, however with the right treatment is currently ear infection free and her ears aren’t causing her any discomfort. Misha also has some arthritis in her hips and recently has lost a heap of weight to help with this, she is nervous of her back end being handled but gets around fairly well.
Misha will be joining our forever foster program, where GSRV will provide ongoing support for Misha’s pre-existing medical conditions.

This poor girl is up against it, she is constantly overlooked for younger dogs without any baggage, she has been living in the shelter for months, stressed out by all the barking dogs around her, and is desperate to have a family of her own that will provide her with unconditional love. Misha will be the perfect snuggly companion in a quiet home and will give someone so much love and loyalty if they are willing to give her a chance.

Whilst many people have placed Misha in the ‘too hard’ or ‘too much baggage’ basket, we believe that she deserves a second chance at a happy forever after and are willing to support the amazing humans who can open their hearts and homes to this beautiful dog who has already been so let down by humans.
