Lilo
A FRESH START FOR LOVEABLE LILO
Beautiful little Lilo is 6.5 years old and finds herself in need of our help again. Lilo was rehomed through our rescue when she was 2 years old, however after a marriage breakup and a change in circumstances, she can no longer stay where she is. Whilst we always endeavour to find our dogs their forever home, we will always support our dogs for their entire life… once a GSRV dog, always a GSRV dog, and we will always take them back if they need our help, it’s time for a fresh start for our Lilo.
Lilo is extremely friendly when meeting new people, she loves pats and cuddles, she isn’t much of a guard dog and will happily welcome anyone into the home, especially if treats are on offer… we hear that cheese is her absolute favourite! Lilo has had exposure to children and despite giving some unwanted cheeky kisses, has been great with them. Lilo would suit most family dynamics, she has spent the last few years living with a golden retriever and has absolutely adopted a lot of his personality traits.
Lilo has a high prey drive, when she came to us 5 years ago it was due to her chasing livestock. Lilo currently likes to chase birds, rabbits and mice, whilst she doesn’t have much luck chasing them, she will need a home without cats or other small animals and will need secure fencing if she is housed near livestock.
Lilo loves to play, anything that squeaks are her favourite although she has been known to de-squeak a few toys over the years. Lilo is motivated by both toys and food, she is very clever and enjoys learning and engaging with her humans. Whilst Lilo knows her basics, she would highly benefit from refreshing her training with her new family. Lilo hasn’t been walked in a little while, she will need to build up her manners on lead.
Lilo gets along well with other dogs, she is very playful and will stand over them initially in an effort to play, if that doesn’t work, a nose boop to instigate a reaction is her next approach… she loves playing chase and doing zoomies but also listens when other dogs tell her off and will settle down. Lilo would love to live with a large breed male dog in her new home, someone who is happy to play with her and get involved in her zoomie antics.
Lilo like all shepherds, will make her own fun when she is bored. Whilst she is well behaved inside the house, she does tend to dig outside. Keeping Lilo mentally stimulated through the use of enrichment toys, puzzles, games and training will ensure that she doesn’t feel the need to re-landscape your backyard.
This sweet girl will make the most amazing family companion, she is that once in a lifetime dog that you want your kids to grow up with. Lilo is looking for a new home where she will be included as part of the family, taken for adventures and of course allowed inside where she can cuddle up to you on the bed.
