Lincoln

We were very distressed when we met 2-year-old Lincoln at the pound on the weekend, his body condition is horrific, just skin and bones and yet he is still the happiest, friendliest pup. Lincoln was picked up as a stray, he has been sold on gumtree multiple times, yet his current owner hasn’t come forward to claim him, it is clear he has been neglected and now dumped. We are now searching for a forever home for Lincoln, so that he never has to live like this again.

Lincoln is starving, he is now receiving small, frequent meals to safely put weight back on, he snaps so quickly at treats he nearly takes your fingers off, but we can’t blame him, just look at his condition, it is no wonder. Lincoln needs to be taught to be gentle around treats, it is all about gaining his trust and him learning he doesn’t need to go hungry. For now, Lincoln needs a home without small children under the age of 8, he won’t mean to hurt small fingers but will accidentally nip them to reach food.

Even more than food, Lincoln LOVES toys, squeaky toys are his absolute favourite, and his personal mission is to kill every squeak! Lincoln loves to play, throwing toys up in the air to himself in sheer delight, he is still working on bringing them back when playing fetch.

Lincoln knows how to sit and seems to be a quick learner, being both treat and toy motivated, he will be a great training buddy for someone willing to put the time and effort into him. Lincoln still has plenty to learn, he doesn’t have much in the way of leash manners and will need plenty of boundaries and consistent rules in his new home.

Lincoln is a working line shepherd and has plenty of energy to burn, he is looking for an active, breed experienced family that will give him plenty of physical exercise as well as mental stimulation in the form of training sessions, enrichment toys and puzzles, hide and seek games and more! Lincoln is always up for anything fun.

Lincoln tested well with other dogs in the pound, he does get a little boisterous and wants to play, however all his behaviour has been very friendly albeit lacking a little experience. Lincoln may like to live with another large-breed dog, careful integration would need to take place and separation around food. Lincoln would also be fine living as the only dog in his new home, he is not suitable to a home with cats or other small pets.

This darling boy has been let down by humans time and time again, despite it all he loves people and is willing to try opening his heart up to a new family again. We are desperate to bust Lincoln out of the pound and to show him the true meaning of love and family, to teach him food is never in short supply and that life is full of squeaky toys for him to destroy.
