Luna and Klaus

Luna and Klaus are a bonded pair of long stock coat German Shepherds, Luna (female, left) is almost 9, whilst Klaus (male, right) is almost 8 years old, they have been together since they were 1 and now find themselves in need of a new home due to their owner’s ill health. These beautiful dogs are about to have their world turned upside down, the least we can do is to keep them together.

Both Luna and Klaus are very affectionate with humans and love meeting new people, both dogs love pats and belly rubs, they are people dogs that just want to be inside with their humans and included as part of the family. Luna and Klaus have always been indoor dogs, they are well behaved when no-one is home and are fine on their own during the day.

Luna and Klaus have grown up with visiting children and adore them, they can be a little excitable at first but soon calm down and then are happy hanging out with visitors and have always been fine with children of all sizes. Luna and Klaus would suit most family dynamics, of course they would need to be supervised around young children and given a quiet space they can retreat to whilst they adjust.

Luna and Klaus love playing together and can often be found wrestling and chasing each other, Luna is the boss! They both enjoy playing with toys, balls are their favourite and games of fetch are a competition of who is the quickest.

Luna and Klaus know their basic commands, however they will need reminding of this and will need to be taught the boundaries within their new home. Both dogs are food motivated and are quick learners, they would enjoy training with their family to keep their skills sharp and to learn new skills – whoever said you can’t teach an old dog new tricks was lying, these two are up for it if you are!

Luna and Klaus haven’t been walked regularly in quite some time, they pull on lead, especially when they see another dog, and can be reactive and a little nervous around loud traffic. A quiet lifestyle would best suit Luna and Klaus, we don’t think they would cope in an extremely busy area and would be best suited to walking at quieter times of the day so as to not overstimulate them too much.

Luna and Klaus have not been socialised with other animals, they will bark and lunge when they see another dog and unfortunately will feed off each other’s reactions. They will need two handlers when out on walks, and to be kept away from other animals. Walking at quieter times of the day in areas away from other dogs will ensure a more peaceful walk for all. If Luna and Klaus’ new humans want to work on their reactivity, we highly suggest reaching out to a professional dog trainer for guidance.

These beautiful dogs are ready made best friends, they adore each other and in the family home are well behaved and very relaxed. They are looking for a quiet lifestyle where they will be spoiled and cherished and most importantly, allowed to stay together, living out their days as best buddies.
