Rosie is a beautiful 20-month-old female German Shepherd who find herself looking for a new forever home due to her owner’s declining health. Rosie is a very loved dog, this decision to find her a new home has been a heart-breaking but necessary one for her owner.

Rosie has a big personality, this gorgeous girl loves life and bounces around everywhere, ready to have fun and play! Rosie is a boisterous girl that is craving more physical and mental stimulation than she is currently getting, she is looking for an active home that is ready to take on a young, boisterous shepherd.

Rosie has grown up on a rural property, she loves having room to run and hasn’t been exposed much to the outside world. Ideally, Rosie’s new home would be similar, where she has plenty of space to run around and burn some energy, Rosie likes to chase birds, rabbits and kangaroos but is respectful of cows at her current home. We feel Rosie may struggle if she was rehomed into a dense suburban area, all the new noises and hustle and bustle may overwhelm this farm girl, she would much prefer a quieter environment.

Rosie is very affectionate; she loves meeting new people, however, gets very over-excited at first and will jump and mouth out of overstimulation. Whilst Rosie is well behaved for her current owner, she needs to learn some manners when interacting with others, clear boundaries and consistent feedback will ensure Rosie learns in time to greet people in a calm manner. For now, Rosie is looking for a home where everyone is over the age of 12, Rosie is not aggressive, nor does she jump up with the intention to harm, however, children find Rosie very overwhelming.

Rosie loves treats (a little too much, she snatches them) and is keen to learn, whilst she knows her basics, she hasn’t been given much in the way of training lately nor had many rules enforced due to her owner’s declining health and would thrive in a home with a breed experienced owner that can get the best out of Rosie. Rosie’s training will be ongoing, she is a teenager that wants to test the boundaries and hasn’t been given many of them lately, a firm but fair approach with lots of positive reinforcement will see Rosie learning what is expected of her in no time.

Rosie currently lives with another dog; however, she hassles him constantly to play and isn’t the best at reading cues and signals, her owner having to step in. Rosie will need ongoing socialization and would benefit from slow introductions with other dogs so that she can learn appropriate doggy manners and etiquette, she hasn’t met any other dogs recently and may bark at them at first. For now, Rosie would benefit from being the only dog in her new home, she needs to work on herself before she can make doggy friends that will enjoy her company. Rosie has not been tested with cats.

Rosie is toilet trained and enjoys being inside with her people, she needs reminding to be calm and that indoors is not the place for playtime, consistent rules in the home will help her pick this up in no time. Once Rosie does calm down, she is happiest by her human’s side, an absolute German Shadow. Rosie will form a strong bond with her new family and is as loyal as they come.

Rosie is a complete water baby that loves to run through puddles, swim in the dam and any body of water she can find, fetching toys and sticks is another favourite pastime for Rosie, she is easily entertained and motivated! This girl is looking for an adventurous lifestyle where every day is full of fun and something to do, she requires lots of stimulation as a teenage German Shepherd and is looking for an experienced owner that can give her the ongoing training, socialization and enrichment that she needs.
