Harvey
Harvey is still in the pound and is searching for a foster or foster to adopt home.
Harvey is a gorgeous 6.5-year-old boy who left at a property while his owner has been in care long-term, he was luckily fed by some well-meaning neighbours who looked after him, however Harvey became extremely matted and was ultimately taken in by the RSPCA. Harvey has been recovering in the shelter however would love to bust out and into a loving home.
Harvey has lived a very sheltered life on a fairly rural property and is lacking exposure with the outside world. He has always lived with 1 male owner and formed a strong bond with him. Harvey can initially be a little wary of new people, however, warms up quickly and then is quite affectionate.
Harvey can be a little head shy, he has had previous ear infections and matting that has all been cleared up now, however is still a little nervous with handling around his head. Going slow and at Harvey’s pace will win him over and keep him comfortable. Harvey is best suited to a home with children over 12.
Harvey hasn’t had much exposure to other dogs; he becomes frustrated and over-aroused when he meets them and doesn’t have any doggy manners. Harvey has shown that with gradual exposure, he can walk calmly past other dogs and even have a sniff, however interacting beyond that, is something he is not yet ready for. Harvey will try to mount new dogs and is very rude, if he does this to the wrong dog, he will find himself in trouble. Harvey is looking for a home where he is the only dog.
Harvey will bark at kangaroos and livestock, however, isn’t one to jump fencing to go and chase them; he hasn’t been tested with cats or other small animals.
Harvey’s ideal home would be on a rural property where he can spend the day following his owner around, he is as loyal as they come and will bond quickly with his new person.
