GSRV do not have a facility of our own. We operate via a network of foster carers and adopters to take in our dogs.
-
As we don’t have a facility of our own, if you are interested in meeting a dog available for
adoption you will need to complete the adoption application form, our team will be in touch, if you are
everything that particular dog needs and more, a meet and greet will be arranged. -
We try to respond to all forms within a 72-hour period however, depending on the volume of dogs we are taking in at the time, it may take a little longer. Adoption application forms are responded to via email so please keep and eye on your junk/ spam file.

All you need to do is complete the adoption application form.
-
Yes you can! However depending on where the dog is located there may be some travelling
involved for you and your family, this can be discussed further with our adoptions team when we
feel we have a dog suitable for you and your family. -
Our adoption fee varies with the age of each dog. For a full list please see our Adopt/Foster section. All payments will be required up front when you take a dog on a trial adoption.

All you need to do is complete the adoption application form via our Adopt/Foster section on our website.

No, all our applications are screened before meet and greets are arranged, some of our dogs require very specific needs that their forever home will need to meet. Before wasting your time, and ours, we want to ensure both you and the dog, are suitable for each other.

We can never guarantee that a dog will ok with a cat. Even if the dog has grown up around cats, they are ok with their cat, we can’t say they will be fine with yours. If you have a cat and are interested in adopting a dog, you need to be willing to work on slowly introducing the dog and cat in a safe and controlled environment ensuring the safety of both animals. Ultimately you need to be ok with the fact that the dog and cat may never get along. It is unfair on the dog to move them from home to home just to see how they get along with the cat. We will however do our best to try and pair you with a dog that has a low prey drive to increase the chances of them becoming friends.

No, we have your application on file. Simply send an email to rescue@gsrv.com.au to let our adoptions team know you’re interested.

best carers! -
We have a variety of dogs come through out rescue. Generally, we can gauge how a dog will react with other dogs’ children after an assessment is completed, if you have young children, we will be extremely cautious of the dogs we place in your home. With smaller dogs, cats and other animals we can never guarantee how a dog will react, unless you are able to separate the dog from these animals, it is unlikely we will have a dog suitable for you to foster.
-
No. Unfortunately, once a dog is surrendered you will not be able to visit them in their new home.
Moving a dog to a new family can be very unsettling for them, if they see you again it is extremely difficult for them to understand why they are not going home with you. We are however happy to send through updates and photos whilst the dog is in foster care or on trial. Once a dog is adopted we can only send through updates as we receive them. -
No, you don’t. Our surrender form is designed as a first point of contact. You do not need to
proceed with the surrender if you no longer wish to do so. -

This will be determined on a case by case basis. If we see during our assessment that the dogs
heavily rely on each other for support then yes, they will be rehomed together. However, if during the assessment the dogs would be better off separated we will look for separate home for the two.
