Nova - Foster or Adopt
Beautiful Nova had a rough start to life, she had been seized from a property where she was confined to a small room, forced to sleep in her own faeces and was terrified of the world around her. In the pound, she wouldn't eat, and would hide in the corner shaking.
We placed Nova into foster care, initially she was very nervous around people and the other dog in the home but has slowly warmed up to the other dog to the point that she now depends on him for confidence and reassurance. Nova cannot stay where she is, and is looking for someone special to take her in and continue her rehabilitation to a happy, confident dog.
Nova is still very young, she has little experience with the outside world, it is all very new and overwhelming for her. Nova will rely on a doggy brother to help guide her, she is looking for a foster home with at least 1 male dog, who is happy to play but also old enough to teach her how to settle. Nova likes to play rough and being a typical female, can get a little bossy at times.
After being confined to a room for her whole life, Nova doesn’t enjoy being by herself much, she would love to have someone home often and a doggy friend for company. Nova is very cheeky and has shown that she can use the rungs on wooden fencing to climb to see what is going on at the neighbour’s house. Whilst she hasn’t escaped yet, it would only be a matter of time with these rungs. Nova is looking for a foster home with either colourbond fencing or fencing that has no wooden rungs that she can use as a step up.
Nova is food motivated and enjoys learning new things, we use food to create positive associations for Nova and to help build her confidence. Nova is still a little unsure meeting new people and will approach them cautiously, she will need a quiet home without children that can slowly expose her to new people and environments.
Nova may start out shy with people but she is desperate to be loved, once she gets to know you, she is quite affectionate and is starting to trust humans, the little wins of her coming for a pat, snuggling on the couch, showing her belly for a scratch are all milestones that Nova will hit in foster care, showing that she is becoming more comfortable.
Nova really just needs someone that can take her in long-term and show her how great life can be, introducing her to the big outside world, and showing her unconditional love so that she can build her confidence up.
