Spike

Spike is still in foster care and is not quite ready for adoption just yet.

Spike is the coolest dog you will ever meet, this boy just exudes spunk, sass and is everything a young shepherd should be, he has so much potential to be an amazing dog! Spike recently ended up in a rural pound due to no fault of his own and is now enjoying life in foster care so that we can get to know him better.

Spike LOVES people and is an over-sized affectionate love-bug that makes friends with everyone. Spike loves pats, especially bum scratches and will lean into your leg for more. Spike can panic a little when his humans leave the house, however, is working on this and doing well now that he realises, they will come home. Spike loves toys, especially enrichment puzzles and anything that dispenses food, this helps to keep him amused when his people are out of the house.

Spike is a typical teenager that still presents with puppy behaviours at times such as jumping up and mouthing, he is a quick learner and will respond well when given clear boundaries and rules within the home. For now, Spike is best suited to a home with children over 12.

Spike is looking for an active home with someone that is dedicated to his ongoing training, he is at the age where he will test your patience and be a little cheeky at times, ensuring he has an outlet and can engage with his handler, using his brain will help to keep everyone happy.

Spike can be conflicted with other dogs, at first, he is reactive and will bark and lunge at them, however when given time to calm down and introduced slowly, he has shown to be quite social and enjoys saying hello to others.

Spike may be able to live with another large-breed dog in his new home, pending a slow introduction, he has not been tested with cats or other small animals.
