Loki

Meet Loki, a 12-month-old pocket rocket who is ready to zoom into his forever home! Loki is only a small boy with a long stock coat. Loki is currently in the pound and is not enjoying life confined to a pen, he is looking for a dedicated forever home that can give him the structure and training he is craving.

Loki is a friendly boy that enjoys meeting new people, especially when they have treats! Loki will sell his soul for a piece of roast chicken and will do anything to please his people. Loki can become a little overwhelmed by lots of handling by strangers, he enjoys a pat but can become overstimulated and unsure with too much too soon.

Loki is lacking in impulse control, when he becomes excited, frustrated or even just wants attention, he will jump up; this little man has springs for legs and aims high, at times accidentally bumping into your face. Loki is a quick learner and we know that this behaviour is exacerbated by being in the pound, however for now, Loki is best suited to a home where everyone is over the age of 12.

Loki is extremely clever and responds well to commands, he is keen to learn and wants to impress his people and show off that he can be a good boy. In just a short session, Loki understood that jumping got him nowhere and that sitting nicely was the easiest way to get a treat. Loki will be a dream to train, he is very engaged with his handler and picks things up extremely quickly, this boy is craving some structure and direction, he is looking for someone who is interested in ongoing training and would do well in obedience, agility and other dog sports.

Loki is an active boy that has plenty of energy to burn, he will need an active family that are committed to providing Loki both physical and mental stimulation through training sessions, play, enrichment toys and games that will get his mind working.

Loki showed also us his calm, snuggly side in the pound, after some training and a short walk, he was happy just to hang out and lie down, whilst receiving some pats and chest scratches. Loki is looking for someone to be his best friend, that he can look to for guidance and a source of fun, but who will also give him plenty of love and include him as part of the family.

Loki can be a little frustrated when first meeting other dogs, he is easy to distract with treats and this helps him to calm down. Once over the initial frustration, Loki was able to go for a walk and hang out with our assessment dog, sniffing nicely and taking correction from the other dog well. Loki hasn’t show any aggression to other dogs, he can be a little rude at first but ultimately just wants to play and was able to settle down and even lie side by side.

Loki clearly doesn’t have a lot of experience with other dogs and is very excited when he first sees them, his new family will need to work on this, he is so treat obsessed and will completely turn his focus onto his handler, it will not take long for any reactivity to be under control. Loki could possibly live with another large breed dog, a confident dog that will tell him off, the ability to separate initially would be required to allow for a slow integration. Loki would also be fine as the only pet in his new home, receiving all of your attention.
Loki is looking for a home where he is permanently separated from any cats or small animals.

Loki is oozing potential, in the right home we know this boy will absolutely thrive and will be the most amazing dog. Loki is looking for someone experienced with working line shepherds, who is committed and who has the time to put into him. Loki is fun-loving and up for anything, watching him learn and ‘get it’ will put a smile on anyone’s face, he is hard not to fall in-love with.
