Moxie

Moxie is still in foster care and is not quite ready for adoption just yet.

Moxie is a beautiful 2-year-old long stock coat German Shepherd who was recently rescued from the pound. Moxie was extremely shut down in the shelter environment and was fearful of new people and new animals, trying to avoid them as much as possible.

Moxie has been gaining confidence and learning to trust those around him whilst in a loving foster home, he is much more comfortable in the home environment now and has even been jumping up on the couch for a cuddle and starting to play with toys.

Moxie is very affectionate with people once he trusts them and enjoys having his people around often, he is a typical German Shadow that just wants to be wherever you are. Moxie hasn’t had a lot to do with children in foster care, he would prefer a quieter home where noises and movements are predictable, he would be looking for a home with children over 8.

Moxie has lived a sheltered life and is very nervous of the outside world, on walks he gets overwhelmed easily and needs reassurance and guidance from a confident handler. Moxie’s new family will need to commit to his ongoing socialisation by providing him positive exposure and showing him that the world isn’t so scary.

Moxie is very unsure about other dogs; he tries to avoid them. Moxie has shown that he can co-exist beautifully with another dog, and we are sure that if matched with the right dog, it wouldn’t take him long to come out of his shell. Moxie would love a calm, respectful doggy friend that can give him time and space to interact on his own terms. Moxie is not reactive out on walks, his fear tactic is to avoid or run away, when put under pressure he is extremely tolerant.

Moxie gets along well with cats and is a gentle boy that would be fine living with a cat in his new home pending introductions.
