Remi
Sweet little Remi is 6 months old and is a long stock coat, female German Shepherd. Remi was found as a stray along with her sister and two other dogs, it is evident that she did not have a good start to life and was very timid and unsure. Remi has been in foster care for the past few weeks and is coming out of her shell more each day, she is now ready to find her forever home.
Remi is a cuddly, affectionate little girl that started out shy at first, but now loves meeting new people. Remi will climb into your lap for a cuddle and always wants her humans close by, she can get a little jumpy and mouthy at times, she is a typical over-excited puppy.
Remi would be best suited to a home where children are over the age of 5 and who have experience living with a boisterous large breed dog.
Remi has become accustomed to having her humans around most of the time, she is a typical German Shadow that wants to know what you are doing at all times. Remi has transitioned into an indoor dog and would love to have someone home more often than not.
Remi is a typical puppy that until recently, has never had boundaries within a home, she will steal shoes, counter surf, and get into anything that is left out that need investigating. Remi is entering her teenage phase and will continue to push boundaries and be very cheeky; a German Shepherd pup is not for someone who is time poor, Remi will need someone who can give her lots of attention and put in lots of effort to setting boundaries and teaching her manners to ensure she grows into a well-behaved adult dog.
Remi hasn’t had any exposure to the outside world before arriving into our care, she has begun learning to walk on a lead and is slowly learning that the world around her is not something to be fearful of. Remi will need to keep building her confidence in her new home, Remi will need lots of positive exposure to new environments, situations, people, and animals to ensure she doesn’t become fearful or reactive as she ages.
Remi is food motivated and learns quickly, she would do extremely well attending group obedience classes so that she can work on her skills and sociability at the same time. Remi will need regular exercise, but will also need mental stimulation through training, puzzles, and enrichment games.
Remi has always lived with another dog and is much more confident with another dog around, her entire demeanour changes and she lights up around other dogs. We are looking for a home with a confident, large breed male dog that will be happy to take Remi under their wing and help her to learn about the big wide world. Remi can play quite rough, she enjoys playing ‘bitey face’ and ‘bitey legs’ – a playful dog who can also tell her off when she is too much would be best suited.
Remi has not been tested with cats or other small pets, she could possibly be introduced with a gradual introduction and lots of training and boundaries.
Remi is absolutely adorable and will make any family incredibly happy, however she will require lots of time and effort to continue her exposure and socialisation whilst teaching her manners and boundaries. Remi needs someone dedicated to helping her become a well-rounded adult dog, German Shepherd puppies are a lot of work, but they are completely worth it, and when you put the work in, the results speak for themselves!
